Opening of the 'Pioneers of Europe' exhibition and round table discussion

This exhibition pays tribute to ten exceptional women who contributed to the development of the Europe we know today. Resistance fighters and Holocaust survivors, outstanding professionals in the political, scientific and cultural fields, these women inspired the European Union of today. Many of them worked to put an end to the horrors of the two world wars and promoted the fundamental values of the EU, both within the European institutions themselves and through political activism. Some of them have even gone on to preside over the European Parliament, setting an example of leadership and commitment. All have defended the European values of equality, freedom, democracy, solidarity, diversity and respect for human rights.

Opening of the exhibition and round table discussion on 7 March at 7pm. Speakers at the round table:

  • Monica Baldi, former Member of the European Parliament (1994-1999), member of the Women's Rights Committee and Vice-Chair of the Culture Committee
  • Jacques Fournier, Deputy Mayor of Tremblay-sur-Mauldre
  • Debora Righetti, Events and Learning Coordinator, Maison Jean Monnet
  • Reading by Marie-Silvia Manuel

The exhibition opened in May 2023 in the historic building of the University of Barcelona. It is currently travelling to a number of universities in Catalonia, and this French version marks the start of its European tour. This travelling exhibition can be seen in Le Tremblay-sur-Mauldre, then in Jouars-Pontchartrain and finally in Les Mesnuls (78).
