We are the heirs of so many accumulated years.
The long fossilisation of languages and cultures,
the successive deposits of so many pasts
that have been mixed, enriched and superimposed,
Layers of wars,
Trade,
Exchanges,
Conquests.
We are the sons and daughters of the sedimentation of centuries.

Laurent Gaudé, Nous l'Europe

Laurent Gaudé develops the idea that the past, overturned by the industrial revolution and the two great wars, forms the basis of a common memory for the peoples of Europe. Today's Europe has been built on this chaotic past. A flood of images, of turbulent moments that History asks us to look at to better understand who we are.
Performed by a choir that calls out to the audience, the aim of these modern choreographers is to remind us of what we are founded on, and that this epic is an opportunity for our future.
From the theatrical space, redesigned as an original circle from which everything can spring, today's choreutes alert us. They chant our history, they cry out our memory, and they sing of what still needs to emerge from our differences so that our future as Europeans can come to pass, the future of a new civilisational project that goes beyond the framework of our nations.
